Dozens of unionized health care workers at a Pleasant Hill hospice care home started a weeklong strike on Monday amid what they say are service reductions and “severe” layoffs.
The strike at Hospice East Bay, on Buskirk Avenue, involves about 70 employees in various positions who are members of the National Union of Healthcare Workers.
