A Foster City woman has been sentenced to six months in county jail for embezzling $813,000 from StarVista, the San Mateo County mental health care nonprofit she formerly worked for, prosecutors said Friday.

Clarise Blanchard, 79, was the 2008 San Mateo County Woman of the Year, an award from the county Commission on the Status of Women, which recognized her commitment to helping women in the county with substance abuse and mental health issues.
