Firefighters increased containment of the Timber Fire in Big Sur to 12% as the wildfire held at 4,545 acres, Cal Fire said Friday afternoon.
The fire in the Los Padres National Forest, south of Carmel, prompted evacuations and the closure of an eight-mile stretch of state Highway 1, Monterey County’s Department of Emergency Management said.
