Evacuation orders have been issued for two zones in the Big Sur area of Monterey County due to the Timber Fire, the Sheriff’s Office said Sunday night.

Immediate evacuation orders have been issued for residents in zones MRY-F026 and MRY-F027, which are in the area of Partington Ridge Road and North Coast Ridge Road. These orders also include the Alila Ventana Big Sur resort.

Evacuation warnings are also now in effect for zones MRY-F024, MRY-F025 and MRY-F028.

The fire is burning in Los Padres National Forest and is in steep, rugged terrain with heavy vegetation, making access difficult for firefighters, Cal Fire said.

The blaze was at 400 acres and 5% containment Sunday.

The response is being led by the U.S. Forest Service, with Cal Fire and other agencies supporting with air and ground resources.

The fire sparked at about 10:45 a.m. southeast of the unincorporated area of Loma Vista.
