The 69th Monterey Jazz Festival opens Friday afternoon at the Monterey County Fairgrounds, kicking off a four-day run through Sunday. Organizers say the festival, which starts around 3 p.m., is the longest continuously running jazz festival in the world. Crowds and increased traffic are expected around the fairgrounds at 2004 Fairground Road in Monterey.
