Walnut Creek leaders, critics frustrated at slow pace of police reforms

There was plenty of frustration to go around at the Walnut Creek City Council on Tuesday night, with both city officials and some two dozen public commenters expressing growing impatience with the slow pace of local police reforms.

Four of five council members said they are angry at how long it has taken the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office to finish its investigation of the June 2, 2019, death of Miles Hall, a 23-year-old man killed by police officers as he was experiencing a mental health episode.
