Unionized trash haulers who handle waste collection at San Francisco International Airport and neighboring communities have authorized a strike as they conduct contract negotiations.
About 100 drivers, equipment operators, sorters and mechanics represented by Teamsters Local 350 threatened the walkout amid talks with South San Francisco Scavengers Co., the union said Saturday.
The company didn’t immediately respond to a call seeking comment Saturday after usual business hours. Its first contract with the Teamsters was ratified in 2023, according to the union’s website.
In addition to SFO, the waste hauling company provides services for South San Francisco, Brisbane and Millbrae.
The next bargaining session is scheduled for Monday, the union said.
