Head Start rallies bipartisan support against Trump admin’s proposed rule changes

A group of California state legislators, Head Start California representatives and supporters of early childhood education gathered Wednesday to voice opposition to a proposed federal rule change that would significantly weaken standards for the early childhood education program Head Start.

First established by Congress in the 1960s, Head Start is a federally funded program that provides child care, early education, health and dental checkups and support to vulnerable and low-income communities, including children with disabilities, children experiencing homelessness and children in foster care.
