The Pacifica City Council has appointed Sean Charpentier as the next city manager following a formal recruitment process, according to city officials.
Charpentier, who has more than 20 years of local government experience, will begin the role on May 4, according to city officials. He most recently served as executive director of the City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County. He previously worked as an assistant and interim city manager for the city of East Palo Alto.
Charpentier said he plans to remain visible and engaged with residents as he steps into the role.
“A good city manager is very visible in the community and engaged,” he said, adding his focus will be on helping Pacifica remain “a prosperous, sustainable and equitable coastal community.”
Mayor Christine Boles said Charpentier met the council’s criteria for the position and brings strong familiarity with the city’s environment, businesses and arts community, as well as experience working with regional partners.
“He is also coming to us with open eyes to our challenges while bringing skills and a desire to work in partnership with the City Council, community and staff towards achieving the City’s Strategic Plan goals,” she said.
