An Independence Day parade and celebration is set to take place Thursday in Mountain House, which this week became the 483rd incorporated city in California.

Beginning at 9 a.m., the parade will start at the Central Community Park located at 25 Main St. and will go from Central Parkway and Main Street south down Central Parkway to Heritage Drive, where it will turn around and head back to the park.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a celebration that follows at the park with live music, a kids fun zone, food trucks, and local artesian vendors.

The city encouraged attendees to wear red, white, and blue to the event.

During the primary elections in March, Measure D was added to the ballot asking voters in the area if they were in support of creating the city of Mountain House effective July 1 and an overwhelming majority of voters said yes.

On Monday, Mountain House held their first City Council meeting consisting of Mayor Andy Su and the council members — Matt Disko, Ronna Green, Daniel Harrison, and Bernice King Tingle.

Among city business was the appointment of the mayor pro tempore, appointing Steven Pinkerton as city manager, and adopting a resolution that designated John Bakker as city attorney and Camilla Getz as assistant city attorney.
