A Millbrae man was sentenced to five years in federal prison for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material, prosecutors said Friday.
Gianbernardo Florendo, 36, pleaded guilty in June to using the online application Telegram to receive child sex images and videos, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Northern California.
Hundreds of child sex videos and images were found on Florendo’s phone and in his Telegram chats, prosecutors said.
Florendo engaged in sexualized chats while pretending to be a minor, they said.
Prosecutors said Florendo sent payments via PayPal to foreign sellers to gain access to groups and chats on Telegram containing the material.
