Voters in Monterey County appear in early election results to favor a property tax measure in Pacific Grove and bond measures for schools and Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Another bond measure in the North Monterey County Unified School District was receiving more tepid support in early unofficial results.
The property tax measure for Pacific Grove Unified School District, Measure K, requires a two-thirds majority to pass, while the bond measures need 55%.
Measure K was barely ahead of its threshold to pass, with about 68% of voters in the district in favor as of about 11 p.m. Tuesday. It would add a parcel tax of $85 per parcel for five years and generate an estimated $800,000 a year.
Carmel voters were favoring Measure I, with 56% of early returns in favor of the $250 million bond measure. That measure would generate an estimated $17.7 million a year and would be repaid with a property tax of $36 per $100,000 in assessed value.
Voters in the North Monterey County Unified School District appeared supportive of Measure L, but the bond measure was behind the threshold to pass in early unofficial results, with 52.73% of votes in favor.
Measure L would authorize $40 million in bonds for school repairs and education programs, including HVAC repairs.
