Livermore’s District 2 Councilmember Ben Barrientos is leading in his bid to defend his seat against physician Narayan Tadimeti for another term, preliminary results from Tuesday’s election suggest.
Barrientos has received 70.5% of the vote compared to Tadimeti’s 29.5%, according to early returns.
A teacher by profession, Barrientos was elected to the City Council seat in 2022 to represent District 2, which lies in the northeastern part of the city, comprising the Springtown and Ulmar neighborhoods and North Vasco Road.
Barrientos mentioned his vote for the construction of a park with a playground, walking trails, community garden, and disc golf as a highlight from his first term.
“I support more affordable housing, especially for seniors, nurses, teachers, firefighters, the police, and other essential service personnel,” Barrientos said in his candidate statement.
His opponent Tadimeti believes that his experience working as a physician in multiple specialties, with different teams across varied medical settings, would help him in office if he is elected as councilmember.
According to Tadimeti’s campaign website, well-planned infrastructure development, fiscal responsibility, affordable housing, and emergency preparedness were his priorities if elected to office.
