In a crowded race for three spots on the Pittsburg City Council, two incumbents and a challenger pulled ahead of the pack, according to early results in Tuesday’s election.
Current Pittsburg Mayor Dionne Adams and Councilmember Arlene Kobata were the top two vote-getters with 13.92% and 13.35% of the votes, respectively. They’re joined in the lead by newcomer Sonja Shephard, an environmental activist who had earned 12.05% of the vote.
Pittsburg residents were tasked with selecting three at-large candidates from among 11 on the ballot for City Council, which is not split into districts like neighboring towns. Cardinalli-Macaluso (7.21%), Amhari Perkins (6.87%), Carolynne Born (5.38%) and Mark Linde (1.86%).
