Thousands of PG&E customers affected by shutoffs in Alameda and Contra Costa counties had their power restored Friday evening, according to a spokesperson with the utility.
PG&E is implementing what it calls Public Safety Power Shutoffs for about 90,000 customers across 29 counties, including thousands in five Bay Area counties, due to dry and windy weather. The power shutoffs were initiated to avoid equipment from PG&E possibly sparking wildfires.
As of Friday evening, 1,564 of 1,607 customers in Contra Costa County have had their power restored. In Alameda County, 2,590 of 4,720 customers were restored, according to PG&E spokesperson Tamar Sarkissian.

Power for 323 of 2,915 affected customers in Napa County was restored and in Sonoma County, 952 of 2,044 affected customers were restored. In Solano County, only 32 customers were affected and all of those have their power back on.
The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for interior North Bay mountains that was in effect through 11 a.m. Friday because of elevated wildfire dangers due to low humidity and wind gusts of up to 60 mph at the highest peaks.
The power shutoffs are expected to last into Saturday, though milder weather is expected this weekend and into early next week.

PG&E has opened community resource centers in affected areas that offer restrooms, device charging, Wi-Fi, bottled water and snacks, and other supplies. Residents can find a list of community resource centers organized by county.
PG&E is also encouraging customers who may need additional support to contact 211, including those who rely on power for medical needs or who have a disability.
