Two people were arrested on suspicion of assaulting two parents with their child at a fast food restaurant in San Jose in August, police said Thursday.

On Aug. 3 just before 9 p.m., a man and a woman with their young daughter were in a fast food restaurant in the 1100 block of South King Road in San Jose when a woman physically assaulted the mother after an altercation. The father attempted to intervene and the male suspect began to assault him, according to police. The male then brandished a gun at the father and threatened to shoot him.

The suspects fled the scene before police could arrive.

Detectives used license plate readers to identify a vehicle allegedly associated with the suspects and arrested Alejandro Valencia, 30, and Krystelle Tieu Acosta, 23, in Union City on Oct. 7. A search warrant was issued for their residence and police allegedly found two guns and evidence linking them to the crime.

Both were booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, felony battery and making criminal threats.
