The Santa Rosa development known as Tierra de Rosas celebrated a double grand opening last week with 75 affordable homes and a new public park.

Casa Roseland by MidPen Housing Corp. has one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments for people earning 30% to 60% of area median income, or about $34,620 to $98,880, depending on household size, the company said.

Across from the apartments is the one-acre park known as Plaza Permanente with a lawn, structures and picnic areas.

“The Plaza Permanente and Casa Roseland are more than housing and a park, they are building blocks of a climate-friendly, equity-centered community that reflects the pride, diversity, and spirit of Roseland,” Sonoma County Supervisor Chris Coursey said.

The housing was constructed to be within walking distance of schools, public transit, grocery stores, and a public library.

Residents have access to on-site amenities including a community room, learning center, teen room, bike storage, laundry facilities and a children’s play area, according to MidPen Housing, the developer.
