East Palo Alto Mayor Webster Lincoln faced criticism at Tuesday’s City Council meeting over a proposed proclamation to remember October 7, 2023, when militant group Hamas launched an attack on Israel, igniting the Israel-Hamas War.

The “Day of Remembrance” proclamation was proposed for Wednesday, three years after the assault against Israel, which killed about 1,200 people and became the deadliest attack against Jewish people since the Holocaust.
