In November, Berkeley voters will vote on a measure that seeks to double the city’s tax on sugary drinks to fund community health initiatives and nutrition education.
In 2014, Berkeley became the first city in the United States to impose a tax on sugary drinks when voters approved Measure D, establishing a one cent per fluid ounce tax on sugar-sweetened beverages.
