An Oakland man was sentenced Thursday to eight years in federal prison for taking part in a conspiracy to force people into commercial sex work, federal prosecutors said.

Michael Simon, 37, was sentenced after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit human trafficking by force, fraud or coercion. Simon was charged May 26 and pleaded guilty July 16.
