Ride-hailing company Lyft Inc. has agreed to pay $272.5 million to settle allegations of wage theft brought against the company in a lawsuit by San Francisco and other jurisdictions.
The lawsuit alleged that between 2016 and 2020, Lyft misclassified taxi drivers as independent contractors instead of employees, depriving them of rights to minimum wage, overtime, and reimbursement for work-related expenses.
