Cal Fire plans to conduct a 4.1-acre prescribed burn Thursday morning at the Jenner Headlands Preserve in Sonoma County.
Cal Fire said the planned burn, which will begin around 9 a.m., will treat mixed forest understory vegetation on a ridgeline north of the Russian River near Duncan Mills and the Sonoma County coast. The burn aims to reduce hazardous vegetation, among other things.
People near the preserve may see or smell smoke during the burn. Cal Fire urged residents and visitors not to call 911 about smoke from the planned operation but said emergency calls should still be made for smoke or fire that appears unrelated to the burn or threatens life or property.
Cal Fire assured that the operation will comply with local air quality requirements.
