Fire reduction projects at Mount Diablo State Park get $2M from state

The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District will get $2 million in state funding that was recently earmarked to fund fire reduction efforts in and around Mount Diablo State Park.

Fire Protection District Chief Jonas Aguiar called the San Ramon Valley one of the most fire-prone areas in the region, with extensive open space, steep terrain and limited roads. He said in a statement the funding would be directed toward badly needed strategies that create breaks in the vegetation and landscape that fuel fires and facilitate their spread.
