WAYNE AND LEE JAMES have been growing and selling organic produce in Sonoma County for more than 45 years. In that time, their operation — Tierra Vegetables — has garnered a devoted following among the Bay Area’s top restaurants and local foodies.
But as every farmer knows, to everything there is a season — a time to sow, cultivate and harvest. Also, a time to hang it all up — and for the James siblings, the closure of Tierra Vegetables seems imminent. There are multiple reasons, said Lee.
