The Berkeley Police Department marked the 16th anniversary Saturday of an unsolved homicide in the city that took the life of a man on his 35th birthday in a violent robbery.
A $50,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for killing Adolfo Ignacio Celedon Bravo during a robbery and assault of Bravo and his fiancee.
On Sept. 12, 2010, the two were walking home from a party at about 3:41 a.m. when they were allegedly accosted at Adeline and Emerson streets by two men who assaulted and robbed them, according to the Berkeley Police Department.
Known to his family as “Fito,” Bravo was a Chilean national who moved to Berkeley to be with his fiancee. He died after being shot during the robbery. His fiancee was punched in the face during the assault.
The two attackers fled in a dark, older model SUV, police said.
The Berkeley Police Department said in a statement it believes the community could help solve the case if anyone with information came forward.
“Detectives remain hopeful that a member of the community will come forward with information,” the Police Department said in a statement. “Even the smallest detail could prove critical to solving this case.”
