The San Francisco Board of Supervisors has adopted a resolution urging Kaiser Permanente to limit the use of artificial intelligence in the delivery of mental health services.
The resolution, approved Tuesday, called on the healthcare provider to revise its proposed contracts with behavioral health professionals that gave Kaiser the ability to replace therapists with AI, lay off clinicians, and leave them out of decisions about models of care.
