The owners of a notorious subsidized housing complex in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood have been ordered to pay millions of dollars in code violation penalties and invest in upgrades and improvements to the property, the city said Wednesday.

The office of San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie announced Wednesday that $5 million will go toward updating and upgrading the Alice Griffith Apartments, a 338-unit subsidized housing complex that opened just nine years ago and has faced major health and safety issues, including rodent infestations and neglect.
