Federal funding of $850,000 has been secured for a community plaza near the Ashby BART station in Berkeley, local leaders said Friday.
U.S. Rep. Lateefah Simon, D-Oakland, whose office secured the funding, made the announcement at a news conference in South Berkeley, accompanied by Mayor Adena Ishii, BART Director Barnali Ghosh and other Berkeley city officials.
