A 64-year-old Monterey County man was sentenced to 225 years to life in state prison after a jury convicted him of sexually assaulting five children over a period of 16 years, Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni announced Friday.

Jose Guadalupe Reyes was sentenced by Judge Carrie Panetta after a jury on July 21 found him guilty of 14 counts of forcible lewd or lascivious acts on a child under 14 and two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14, according to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office.
