Over the last three months, a coordinated effort by federal, state, and local law enforcement to crack down on violent crime in Oakland has led to the seizure of 76 illegal firearms and charges being brought against 51 defendants, the agencies involved in the operation announced Thursday.
“Operation Disarm” was a collaboration between the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California, the FBI, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the U.S. Marshals Service, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the California Highway Patrol, the Oakland Police Department, and the Oakland Housing Authority Police Department.
