THREE DECADES AFTER its local businesses were cleared away in the name of progress, an effort to seed Black-owned entrepreneurs in Marin City is underway.
The Marin City Entrepreneur Collective is a pilot project of the philanthropic nonprofit Marin Community Foundation. The resident-led program involves teaching young people how to run businesses, grouping them into a nonprofit, linking the nonprofit to fiscal sponsors, and injecting the organization with startup cash.
