Tax to ward off data centers in Solano County goes to November ballot

A tax on energy companies vying to build in Solano County will appear on the ballot in November following a vote by the county Board of Supervisors this week.

If voters approve the tax, called Measure E, annual fees on commercial wind turbines would go up for the first time since 1994, and new fees for solar projects, battery energy storage systems, natural gas projects and data centers would be established, adding at least an estimated $353,000 in revenue each year to the county’s general fund.
