The Mines Fire burning in Santa Clara County has grown to 283 acres with a dangerous rate of spread, Cal Fire said Monday evening.

The fire, which was first reported just after 2 p.m. on Sunday, has now burned 283 acres as of Monday at 5 p.m. after better mapping was used to bring the acreage up from 172 acres previously reported.
