The Port of Oakland, the fourth largest on the Pacific coast, recorded a 7.7% increase in the number of containers it handled in June, with gains in imports and exports, officials said.

Container volume, measured in 20-foot equivalent units, or TEUs, reached 181,356 in June. Full imports rose 11.1% to 78,114 year over year, while exports increased 9.3% to 65,140, the port said Friday.
