As temperatures rise, families take their annual vacations, and students are enjoying time off from school. Beaches along the California coast are filling up. Near Mendocino, Big River has been the favored swimming spot for over 100 years, including the beach near the mouth of the river, where many gather today. There are also long-known spots like Boyle’s swimming hole further inland.
