A baby pig named Peter Porker is up for adoption at the Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA in Burlingame.

Pigs are rare to see at animal shelters, said PHS/SPCA spokesperson Colleen Crowley. But the organization’s status as an open-admission shelter means they do not turn away any animals. Porker is one of the 14 available exotic and farm animals available.

“He has been deemed very healthy, friendly, and very adorable,” said Crowley.

Crowley predicts Porker will grow to be at least 100 pounds.

The ideal adopter is a family with experience raising pigs and a spacious enclosure, according to the shelter’s website at phs-spca.org. Interested adopters above the age of 18 can submit a profile to the shelter and make an appointment to meet the pig.
