A 25-year-old YMCA summer camp counselor has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a second 10-year-old girl attending a day camp at the Morgan Hill Aquatic Center in June, police said Friday.
Anthony Joseph Ramos of Gilroy was taken into custody Thursday for alleged lewd and lascivious acts on a minor. He was arrested on the same charge involving a different child July 9.
Investigators said the second incident occurred while the 10-year-old victim was attending the same YMCA camp on a field trip to the aquatic center on the same day as the first child.
Ramos was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail. He posted $200,000 bail and was released, police said. Bail on the first offense was $100,000.
Officers began investigating on June 30 after receiving a report that a girl had been sexually assaulted while attending a YMCA summer day camp, the Morgan Hill Police said in a statement.
Detectives identified the suspect as Ramon and notified YMCA leadership, which cooperated with the investigation and immediately placed him on leave. The YMCA said Ramon had been employed since Aug. 6, 2024.
