A 33-year-old man was charged in connection with the torture and killing of a kitten in a Market Street bank ATM vestibule, prosecutors said Friday.
William Ohlson, of Reno, Nevada, was accused of killing, maiming or abusing an animal, overdrive, overwork or overload of an animal and resisting, obstructing, delaying a peace officer, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office said.
Police said a man entered a bank ATM vestibule in the 1800 block of Market Street about 2 a.m. on July 1 with a small kitten “and proceeded to violently torture the animal to death,” prosecutors said.
On Tuesday, police served a search warrant at a hotel in the 100 block of Fell Street where officers had tracked Ohlson, prosecutors said.
When police learned he had fled to the roof, the San Francisco Fire Department provided a truck and ladder to help apprehend Ohlson, the District Attorney’s Office said.
