A state grant that paid for increased DUI enforcement in Santa Rosa Police Department led to 20 arrests for suspicion of driving under the influence.

The roughly $500,000 grant from the California Highway Patrol’s Cannabis Tax Grant program funded 24 extra DUI patrols by four officers from fall 2025 through June 2026, according to a statement from the Santa Rosa Police Department Sunday reporting the results of the patrols.

In addition to the DUI arrests, officers on the enforcement team made seven drug-related arrests and eight arrests for outstanding felony warrants.

They also issued 218 traffic citations and 30 citations for driving without a valid license.

The grant’s funding ran through June so the extra patrols will end, but the Police Department will keep using the four cruisers outfitted for DUI patrols that were purchased with the money.

In total, the enforcement campaign funded about 700 traffic enforcement stops and 200 driver evaluations through field sobriety tests.
