Santa Rosa residents looking to start or continue a political career should mark their calendars for Monday, which is when the nomination period opens for three City Council seats.
The city of Santa Rosa will start accepting candidate nomination applications on Monday for people interested in running for the district 2, 4 and 6 seats in the November general election.
Currently, Mark Stapp represents District 2, Victoria Fleming represents District 4 and Jeff Okrepkie represents District 6.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction, registered voters and residents of the district they want to represent at the time nomination papers are issued and throughout the term, if they’re elected, which is four years, according to city officials.
Nomination packets are issued by the City Clerk’s Office at 100 Santa Rosa Avenue. Office hours are between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and every other Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Scheduling an appointment with City Clerk Dina Manis is strongly recommended, according to city officials.
