Two new venues in San Jose will be available for the public ahead of Sunday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup match between Mexico versus England and Brazil versus Norway.
Discovery Meadow and the SAP Center are inviting people to watch World Cup matches on Sunday, relocating for one day from San Pedro Square Market where matches have been streamed.
San Jose officials estimate over 400,000 people have gathered in San Pedro Square Market since June 11 for soccer celebrations. Ahead of an anticipated large turnout, particularly by the city’s sizeable fanbase rooting for Mexico, new venues will be temporarily used to help fans and their families come together.
“We’re showing the rest of the country what it means to be a soccer city,” said San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan. “The enthusiasm and energy our community is bringing to these matches is incredible.”
San Pedro Square Market in Downtown San Jose will not host a match broadcast for the Sunday game, relocating resources to the two other venues. Watch parties will resume in the plaza on Monday.
“Our teams across the City, and our partners, moved quickly to stand up two larger venues in a matter of days,” said Assistant City Manager Lee Wilcox. “Discovery Meadow and SAP Center will offer fans and families more room to gather and enjoy Sunday’s matches together.”
Tickets are required for each event and are available online for both the Discovery Meadow and SAP Center watch parties.
