In-person Election Day voting concluded in California at 8 p.m. But vote-counting will likely take a while.
Comparable primaries from past elections can offer clues about when to expect the first vote results and how long the vote count might take.
In the 2024 primaries, the AP first reported results at 8:08 p.m., or eight minutes after polls closed. The last vote update of the night was at 3:01 a.m. with only about half of total votes counted. The count reached 99% of total votes about two weeks later on March 20 at 4:47 p.m.
