Officers in Antioch warned residents about an increase in vehicle burglaries involving stolen tools and urged the public to take precautions to help reduce thefts, police said.
In an advisory Thursday, the Antioch Police Department said they have recently seen an uptick in break-ins targeting vehicles around the city, with tools among the items most often taken.
Police encouraged residents to remove valuables from their vehicles whenever possible, mark tools with names or unique identifiers to help recover stolen property, and keep driveways well-lit to discourage criminal activity.
They urge residents to report suspicious activity promptly by contacting dispatch at (925) 778-2441.
