San Bruno officers arrested a 60-year-old San Francisco man this week after recovering more than 30 packages belonging to San Bruno residents from a vehicle in Daly City, police said.

The arrest followed a report from a resident in the 1000 block of Admiral Court who noticed a man on Sunday night wearing what appeared to be an Amazon vest while taking packages rather than delivering them. The resident provided suspect information to police at about 10:10 p.m., helping officers identify a vehicle linked to the thefts.

Using information from an Automated License Plate Reader system, officers found the suspect vehicle in Daly City and conducted a traffic stop, the San Bruno Police Department said on social media on Tuesday. They allegedly found more than 30 packages addressed to San Bruno residents inside the car.

Investigators later linked the suspect to several dozen more missing packages reported in the same neighborhood over recent weeks, police said.

“Just because someone looks like a delivery driver — vest and all — doesn’t mean your package is in good hands. If something feels off, trust your instincts and give us a call,” the department said.

The suspect, who has a history of theft-related arrests, was taken into custody and booked into county jail.
