The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District has reinstated its recently retired chief to lead the agency on an interim basis while fire officials search for a permanent replacement.
Lewis Broschard, who retired in March after more than 18 years with the district, will return as interim fire chief, the fire district said in a statement.
