BART has approved nearly $12 million in upgrades to its San Mateo County stations as part of the transit agency’s effort to modernize facilities, improve safety and refresh its rail system’s appearance, BART officials said.
The investment is tied to BART’s Station Glow-Up Strategy, a program aimed at improving station ambience and keeping infrastructure in good repair. The work will include new LED lighting, roof and gutter replacements, deep cleaning to remove bird droppings, landscaping, and the removal of vandalism-prone bus shelters, BART officials said in a statement Thursday.
