Gov. Gavin Newsom has appointed Brian Jones of Monterey County to serve as a judge on the Monterey County Superior Court, the governor’s office announced Friday. 

Jones has served as a deputy district attorney in the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office since 2013 and taught at the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training program from 2022 to 2025. 

 Jones earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Monterey College of Law.  

He will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Marla O. Anderson.
