Breaking through the thick marine fog at Wildcat Gorge Trail in North Berkeley, hikers — new and seasoned, young and wise — arrive to meet at the Tilden Park Merry-Go-Round nearby, ready with their hydration packs, dogs and in one case even a pet ball python.
“Everyone, take a moment,” interrupted Cory Elliott, CEO/President and co-founder of The Black Neighborhood, a nonprofit organization in Oakland dedicated to uplifting and empowering the Black community, who led with a mindfulness exercise before starting “Mental Health Hike #46” on Aug. 10.
