SAN MATEO COUNTY Sheriff Christina Corpus’ right-hand-man, Undersheriff Dan Perea, and County Executive Officer Mike Callagy testified on Wednesday in the hearing on Corpus’ removal, contradicting the testimonies of previous witnesses. 

The ten-day hearing is part of the county’s process to oust Corpus, who remains defiant against calls for her resignation following the release of a county-commissioned investigation conducted by retired judge LaDoris Cordell. The 400-page report accused Corpus of having a romantic relationship with her chief of staff, Victor Aenlle, and that the pair fostered a culture of intimidation and retaliation in the Sheriff’s Office.
