Captain Walter O’Grodnick has been appointed interim chief of the Brentwood Police Department as Chief Timothy Herbert prepares to retire in September, city officials announced.
O’Grodnick, a 32-year law enforcement veteran, has served with the Brentwood department since 1998 in roles ranging from patrol officer and SWAT member to division manager. He currently oversees the Support Services Division.
“Captain O’Grodnick is a proven leader who has dedicated his career to serving and protecting the Brentwood community,” Interim City Manager Darin Gale said in a statement.
The city will conduct a recruitment process to name a permanent chief later this year.
